It's Final!

Of course, the main event of the weekend was a visit from our inspector, Kevin.

The inspection didn't last long. We only had six or so corrections on our list and we felt confident we had fixed every one.

There was only one tense moment. Jeff Staley was working on the north side. We had scraped away some of the dirt to make room for the decomposed granite. So, temporarily, the ground was lower.

The trouble was that we had built our platform, stairs and safety railing based on standards that required it be less than 30 inches off the ground. Kevin asked for a tape measure, and I think I stopped breathing. Gerald started talking about the four inches of DG we would be bringing in later that day. But when Kevin measured, it was still to code.

This is the sight of the county driving out of our lives, almost three full years since we broke ground. It was a giddy feeling.

Still, we genuinely like Kevin and while we were absolutely elated to have passed, we also felt we would miss him.

On our way out, we met Brian coming in with this monster bucket loader, all set to work on our DG.

It was another happy sight.

So was this hawk, who seemed to be perched to oversee all the action.
